Borobudur Temple Discovery

The World’s Largest Buddhist Temple...
Borobudur is a cornerstone of Indonesian culture, and of enormous significance to the international Buddhist community. The harmonious positioning of Borobudur within its incredible natural environment, and the endless mysteries and oral traditions that surround the site, make Borobudur a place of universal interest and a worthy part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing.

Built in the 9th century AD, during the reign of the Sailendra dynasty - the temple is 122m long, 121m wide and 35m high;
it’s formed by ten stair-cased terraces and crowned with a huge stupa. It is adorned with the most intricate bas-reliefs of any Buddhist monument; some 1,460 panels. The temple contains 504 Buddha statues with 72 statues at the top level each inside a stupa (legend has it that if a person can reach inside the stupa and touch the Buddha statue, their dreams will come true!).
